Our group investigates the genetic risk factors associated with the development of Alzheimer’s disease, the most common form of dementia and a major global public health challenge. The disease affects more than 55 million people worldwide, a figure that could reach 78 million by 2050, according to data from the World Health Organization (WHO). The team analyzes genetic material from a large cohort of individuals from the region to advance the understanding of the causes of the disease and improve its diagnosis and treatment through early detection and the development of more precise therapeutic strategies.
